摘要:Political process theory, currently the dominant theoretical paradigm in contentious politics, often faces criticism for its structural bias. This presentation demonstrates how this limitation can be partially mitigated by emphasizing various mechanisms related to relational boundaries. After examining how boundary blurring, crossing, and activation function as key elements in policy implementation and institutional design in China, I delve into the role of boundary mechanisms in the transformation of state-owned-enterprise communities amidst industrial restructuring. This study uncovers a prevalent trend towards fragmentation within many of these communities. It reveals that divisions among worker groups were not always predestined by socioeconomic divisions; rather, they often emerged from the workers’ interactions with the government and amongst themselves.
