我系副教授孙砚菲于American Journal of Sociology 2017年第6期发表的文章“The Rise of Protestantism in Post-Mao China: State and Religion in Historical Perspective”获科学研究宗教学会（The Society for the Scientific Study of Religion）2018年年度最佳论文奖（Distinguished Article Award）。该篇文章在22篇参评文章中脱颖而出，因其“总体学术质量、对领域的重要性和与宏观社会的相关性”(overall quality of scholarship, importance to the field, and relevance to the larger society)获评审委员会的一致推举。1949年创建于哈佛大学的科学研究宗教学会是一个全球性的学术组织。它致力于推动用社会科学的方法来研究宗教组织和活动，并鼓励跨学科的交流与合作。其1000多名会员来自社会学、宗教学、心理学、政治学、经济学等多个学科。
