Zhejiang University Local Government and Social Governance Research Center (CLGS) is one of the first batch of key research bases for philosophy and social sciences established in Zhejiang Province in 2006. CLGS actively expands its academic exchanges with foreign countries and has established good relations with many universities in Denmark, the United States, and the United Kingdom. It has established cooperative research and exchange programs with the School of Politics of the University of Turin, Italy. Professor CLGS has more than 20 people who have left the country to attend important international conferences or lectures. At the same time, he has received more than 10 visiting professors and resident graduate students at home and abroad.

CLGS actively provides policy research and experimental research services for the provincial and municipal governments. Six professors serve as members of the Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee's Decision-making Advisory Committee or the Standing Committee of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference. They undertake the people's livelihood issues of the Hangzhou government, the design of the Wenling Democracy Conference, and the improvement of the permanent system of the Jiaojiang Party Congress. And many other topics. In addition, Professor CLGS, as a social scholar, actively disseminates social science research results to the public through various influential media.

 CLGS pays attention to exploring the training mechanism of young reserve scientific research talents (including doctoral students), and pays attention to expanding the role of CLGS in other social science research institutions in the province. CLGS tilted to outstanding doctoral students both inside and outside the school on the subject of bidding, enabling them to establish long-term contact with CLGS. Since 2007, CLGS has established a two-week reading salon with well-known professors and high-level graduate students as dual-hosted and double-speakers, providing interdisciplinary courses for doctoral students, master students and other young researchers.
